Florida based promotion Xtreme Fighting Championships has announced the main event of the first edition of the Latin America XFC series as Dave Courchaine will meet Thiago Meller in a lightweight bout.
The fight booking was announced by the XFC on Tuesday afternoon in a press release and the event will be broadcast in Brazil on Rede TV.
“There will be no easy fights, when our organization is involved in the matchmaking,” said XFC President John Prisco. “That is something I have told our fighters all along. Dave Courchaine is one of our most talented U.S. fighters and Thiago Meller is a highly skilled Brazilian fighter. The two will present some very dangerous oppositions for one another. What an exciting fight headlining our debut show in Latin America, on Rede TV!”
Courchaine (16-6) had won eight fights in a row before singing with the XFC in 2013. His debut with the promotion came at XFC 24 and he was defeated by Luis Santos in a welterweight bout. Following the bout, he dropped down to the lightweight division and scored a second round knockout victory against Alexander Trevino at XFC 27.
Meller (18-5) is currently on a four fight winning streak and has won ten of his last twelve fights. During his winning streak, three of the four wins have come by stoppage and two of this wins have come by submission in the third round.
The XFC will be announcing more details on this event in the coming weeks.
