With Nate Loughran out of UFC Fight Night 36 with an injury, Erick Silva will now meet Takenori Sato on the February 15th card in Brazil.
UFC officials announced the change on Thursday afternoon and the bout could end up being one of the fights on the main card.
UFC Fight Night 36 will come from Jaragua do Sol, Brazil on February 15th and will be headlined by a middleweight bout as former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida meets Gegard Mousasi.
Silva (15-4, 1NC) has gone 3-3 since entering the UFC in 2011 and he is coming off a knockout defeat against Dong Hyun Kim at UFC Fight Night 29. Prior to his fight with Kim, he had won two of three fights and won a fight night bonus in all of those fights.
Sato (17-8-7) has gone unbeaten in his last ten fights (8-0-2) and has won back to back fights by submission. His most recent victory came in October at Deep: Tribe Tokyo Fight as he submitted Islam Galayev with a kimura in the second round.
