Joe Ellenberger signed with the UFC earlier this month and he will make his debut at UFC 172 on April 26th against Yancy Medeiros in a lightweight bout.
The fight booking was announced by the UFC on Monday afternoon and the bout will be placed on the preliminary card.
UFC 172 will take place from the Baltimore Arena on April 26th and will be headlined by Jon Jones defending the UFC light heavyweight title against Glover Teixeira.
Ellenberger (14-1) is the brother of current UFC welterweight Jake Ellenberger, who is already booked to be on the UFC 172 card as he faces Tarec Saffiedine. After being defeated for the first time in 2011 against current UFC fighter Justin Salas, Joe has won back to back fights and both of those wins have come by stoppage.
Medeiros (10-1) entered the UFC last year after winning two fights in Strikeforce as a middleweight. He immediately dropped down to the lightweight division and was defeated by Rustam Khabilov at UFC 159 due to an injury. He returned at UFC Fight for the Troops 3 and defeated MMA veteran Yves Edwards by TKO in the first round.
The current UFC 172: Jones vs. Teixeira card is below.
Jon Jones (19-1) vs. Glover Teixeira (22-2)
Tarec Saffiedine (15-3) vs. Jake Ellenberger (29-7)
