The recent trend of Mixed Martial Arts promotions issuing challenges to it’s competitors continued on Tuesday as Xtreme Fighting Championship has announced an open challenge to a “handful” of MMA promotions.
In an article on the promotion’s website, XFC President John Prisco announced that he is open to the possibility of pitting his XFC fighters “versus a handful of the promotions out there who have shown interest in innovating the industry.”
Over the next few weeks, XFC will publish “hypothetical” cards that matches up their premier fighters against the premier fighters of their competitors. The first of which was released today, and the theoretical card released opposed the World Series of Fighting”.
Prisco has not been shy about his rocky relationship with WSOF Executive Vice President Ali Abdel-Aziz. In an interview with MMA Mayhem Radio, Prisco said “Ali and I do not like each other… Ali has done a few things that I didn’t really appreciate… He kind of pointed us out, but he might be making a mistake by doing that.”
On the article published on XFCMMA.com, Prisco also examined the differences between WSOF and XFC. Prisco believes that XFC has cultivated it’s own talent, while WSOF has used their “capital” to purchase some of the big names on the free agency wire.
