Francisco Rivera has pulled out of his UFC 170 bout against Raphael Assunacao with a broken hand and the UFC is searching for a new opponent for Assunacao.
Rivera confirmed his injury today on Twitter earlier today.
UFC 170 will come from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on February 22nd and will be headlined by Ronda Rousey defending the UFC women’s bantamweight title against Sara McMann.
Assuncao (21-4) is currently on a five fight winning streak and is coming off a fight of the night victory against T.J. Dillashaw at UFC Fight Night 29. During his winning streak, three of the wins have come by decision with the two stoppage victories coming against Issei Tamura and Vaughan Lee.
Rivera (10-2, 1NC) has gone unbeaten in his last six fights as he has gone 5-0, 1NC in those bouts. He has won back to back fights by TKO and his most recent victory coming against George Roop at UFC Fight Night 31.
