Jessica Eye issues an apology on Instagram

Following the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation announcing that UFC women’s bantamweight fighter Jessica Eye tested positive for cannabinoids, Eye has issued an apology on her Instagram page.

It was reported over the weekend by Brent Brookhouse of Bloody Elbow that Eye tested positive for marijuana and Eye essentially denied the report on Twitter, before deleting her account. She appeared on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani yesterday and maintained her innocence in regards to the report over the weekend by Brookhouse.

Following her appearance on Helwani’s weekly online show, Damon Martin of Fox Sports received paperwork from the TDLR that Eye tested positive for cannabinoids and this is a component in marijuana.

Eye is still currently scheduled to fight Alexis Davis next week at UFC 170 in Las Vegas, as long as she is given a license by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. She will receive that license wants she pass her pre-fight drug test and the results of that drug test have not come back at this time according to the NSAC.
