Legacy Fighting Championship 28 took place Friday Night in Arlington, Texas, and in the night’s main event, Bubba Bush defended his middleweight strap by submitting Rakim Cleveland in the second round with a rear-naked choke.
Bush dominated the contest by turning the fight into the grappling match. The champ was able to bring Cleveland down to the canvas by working him against the cage and then down to the ground. Once Bush brought Cleveland to the ground, he was able to pass to dominant positions and attempt submission after submission.
Since a tough loss to Andrew Craig in early 2011, Bush (7-2) has gone 5-1 inside the legacy cage with his lone defeat in the stretch being a disqualification. Cleveland’s streak of six victories was snapped as a result of the loss.
Jackson submits Tucker in the second
A battle of featherweight prospects ended with Damon Jackson eliciting a tap from a Hunter Tucker in the second round thanks to a tight rear-naked choke.
Jackson put his wrestling to use in the fight against Tucker. In both the first and second periods, Jackson took Tucker down with ease and controlled him from a positional standpoint.
Not only did Jackson (8-0) keep his record unblemished, but he continued his 100% rate of finishes. Tucker (6-2) has now been submitted twice in his last three fights.
Alexandre impresses with a first round victory
In a lightweight contest, Cosmo Alexandre, a veteran of muay thai and kickboxing, showcased his stand-up arsenal by finishing Rey Trujillo in the first frame with a lethal combination of a elbow and a knee inside the thai clinch.
Throughout the fight, Alexandre looked composed and maintained his composure inside the clinch, eventually getting the win in that position. With the victory, Alexandre (6-1) has extended his winning streak to six, and Trujillo (14-13) has now been finished for the tenth time in his career.
Page puts Lozano away with strikes
A stiff right hand and then a litany of ground and pound from Damacio Page caused referee Aladin Martinez to stop his fight with Matt Lozano in the second round.
Although Page was on the receiving end of several, powerful counter-strikes from Lozano, he was able to use his speed and aggressiveness to consistently significant shots.
Since losing four straight in the WEC and UFC, Page (17-9) has gone 2-1, with those victories coming by way of strikes, while the loss was a controversial decision. The loss is Lozano’s (4-2) second in his last three outings.
