Luke Rockhold vs. Tim Boetsch scheduled for UFC 172

A middleweight bout that was initially booked to take place at UFC 166 has been booked for UFC 172 in April as former Strikeforce champion Luke Rockhold will face Tim Boetsch.

UFC officials announced the fight booking on Tuesday morning and the bout will be placed on the main card.

UFC 172 will take place from the Baltimore Arena on April 26th and will be headlined by Jon Jones defending the UFC light heavyweight title against Glover Teixeira.

Rockhold (11-2) is coming off a knockout of the night victory against Costas Philippou at UFC Fight Night 35 and it was his ninth win to come by stoppage. All of his stoppage victories have come in the first round, and three of them have been by TKO/KO.

Boetsch (17-6) recently snapped a two fight losing streak at UFC 166 as he defeated C.B. Dolloway by split decision. It was his first victory in over a year as his last victory was against Hector Lombard at UFC 149.
