Pedro Munhoz signs with UFC, replaces Francisco Rivera against Raphael Assunacao at UFC 170

Following an injury to Francisco Rivera, the UFC has signed RFA bantamweight champion Pedro Munhoz to replace Rivera at UFC 170 against Raphael Assunacao.UFC 170 Poster

The new fight booking was announced by the UFC on Tuesday evening and the new fight will be place on the preliminary card on Fox Sports 1.

UFC 170 will come from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on February 22nd and will be headlined by Ronda Rousey defending the UFC women’s bantamweight title against Sara McMann.

Munhoz (10-0) won the RFA bantamweight title last year and is coming off a successful title defense against Billy Daniels at RFA 12 in January. He defeated Daniels by guillotine choke in the first round, and it was his sixth career victory to come by submission.

Assuncao (21-4) is currently on a five fight winning streak and is coming off a fight of the night victory against T.J. Dillashaw at UFC Fight Night 29. During his winning streak, three of the wins have come by decision with the two stoppage victories coming against Issei Tamura and Vaughan Lee.
