Rashad Evans injures knee, UFC 170 co-main event bout against Daniel Cormier scratched

A knee injury has forced Rashad Evans to pull out of his UFC 170 co-main event fight against Daniel Cormier, and the fight will be moved to a card later this year. UFC 170 Poster

The news of the injury was initially reported by Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports as he spoke to UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta about the injury.

According to Fertitta, Evans will need four weeks of rehab and the bout between Evans and Cormier could be rescheduled for UFC 172 in April, or UFC 173 in May.

Following the announcement of the injury to Evans, former two division title contender Chael Sonnen tweeted that he would step in on short notice to face Cormier.

After Sonnen tweeted that he would be willing to step up, Cormier responded that he just wanted to fight.

As of right now, next week’s UFC 170 card will now go forward with ten fights and the UFC has not announced which fight will be added to the main card.
