UFC light heavyweight Thiago Silva was arrested on Thursday evening in South Florida and is currently being held without bond in the Broward County Sheriff’s Jail.
Following the arrest and charges being filed against Silva, the UFC released a statement which stated that the light heavyweight has been terminated from his contract.
“The Ultimate Fighting Championship has terminated the contract of Thiago Silva, effective immediately,” the statement said.
Silva was initially charges with two counts of attempted murder, aggravated battery with a weapon, and obstruction of justice.
During his bond hearing on Friday morning, the judge dropped the attempted murder charges and change the charges to aggravated assault with a firearm. While the judge initially set a bond of $2,500,100, he decided to hold Silva without bond due to the mixed martial arts fighter being a flight risk.
