Thiago Silva arrested following an incident at a jiu-jitsu school in South Florida

NBC 6 in Miami reported on late Thursday evening that a suspect barricaded himself inside a South Florida home and was eventually taken into custody by the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

According the to NBC report, the Broward County Sheriffs office were called to the Pablo Popovitch Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Center in Ft. Lauderdale at 7:45 p.m. ET due to a suspect threatening people inside the school.

No one was hurt or injured during the incident at the school and the suspect was already gone when law enforcement arrived.

The SWAT Team was called in to set up a perimeter around the home of UFC fighter Thiago Silva after an unknown person locked themselves into the home. At 11:15 p.m. ET, law enforcement officials took a suspect into custody and has not been identified at this time.

Following the reports coming out of South Florida about an incident happening at the home of Silva, the UFC issued the following statement.

“This evening, we were made aware of a situation involving Thiago Silva,” the UFC statement said. “We are in the process of gathering the facts and have no further comment at this time.”

UPDATE: Silva was arrested by the Broward County Sheriff’s on late Thursday evening and is facing four charges. He has been charged with two counts of commit/attempt specified felony could cause death, aggravated battery with deadly weapon, and resisting officer-obstruct without violence.
