UFC Fight Night 36 Bonuses: Machida, Mousasi, Silva, and Oliveira

UFC Fight Night 36 took place on Saturday night from the Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Santa Catarina, Brazil and the fight night bonuses went to Lyoto Machida, Gegard Mousasi, Erick Silva, and Charles Oliveira. UFC Fight Night 36

The bonuses were announced by UFC President Dana White on Twitter following the event and each bonus is $50,000.

Machida and Mousasi were awarded the fight of the night bonus for their five round main event bout. Most of the fight was on the feet as Machida was able to connect with effective strikes to secure the victory on the judges scorecards.

This is the second straight fight that Machida has won a fight night bonus, and his seventh overall. For Mousasi, this was only his second fight in the UFC and this is his first fight night bonus.

UFC Fight Night 36 marked the first event that the organization awarded “Performances of the Night,” instead of Knockout and Submission of the night. The performances of the night went to main card fighters Silva and Oliveira.

Both fighters scored the only two stoppage victories of the night as Oliveira kicked off the main card with a triangle choke submission in the third round against Andy Ogle. It’s the fifth UFC victory for Oliveira and all of his UFC wins have come by stoppage. This is the fifth fight night bonus for “Da Bronx” as he previously won the fight of the night bonus once, and the submission of the night bonus three times.

Silva stopped Takenori Sato in 52 seconds with punches and all four of his UFC victories have come by stoppage in the first round. He has now won a fight night bonus in four of his last five fights, including submission of the night bonuses against Charlie Brenneman and Jason High.

The fighters will receive their bonus checks once they pass their post fight drug test, which should be back in the next two weeks. Stay tuned to TheMMAReport.com for more post fight coverage of UFC Fight Night 36.
