UFC Fight Night 36 took place Saturday night on Fox Sports 1 and featured Lyoto Machida taking home a unanimous decision victory against Gegard Mousasi.
According to Nielsen sources, the preliminary overnight viewership numbers for UFC Fight Night 36 was 1.4 million viewers total viewers.
The last UFC Fight Night card that took place on a Saturday was UFC Fight Night 32 in November, which drew 722,000 total viewers. The last Fight Night card to air on Fox Sports 1 prior to last week was UFC Fight Night 35 and that card drew 629,000 viewers.
According to the same Nielsen sources, Nascar, which was running all-kinds of Speedweek related content from 10:30am ET on Fox Sports 1 through the start of the UFC Fight Night drew 3.5 million viewers.
In other major sports competition, the UFC and Nascar went head-to-head with the Olympics, which drew terrible numbers compared to the last few Winter Olympics (on Saturday nights). According to Nielsen, NBC drew roughly 17.1 million viewers between 8:30-11:00pm ET and a 9.6 household rating.
