The UFC will be heading to New Mexico for the first time on June 7th for UFC Fight Night 42 and it will be headlined by former lightweight champion Benson Henderson meeting Rustam Khablov.
The event was initially reported Albuquerque Journal and was later announced by the UFC.
The event will come from the Tingley Coliseum, which was previously the home arena of the Albuquerque Thunderbirds of the NBA Development League.
Henderson (20-3) has won eight of his nine fights in the UFC and is coming off a split decision victory against Josh Thomson at UFC on FOX 10 in January. This will mark his seventh straight fight that he has been in the main event and it will be his fourth main event in a non-PPV event.
Khabilov (17-1) trains in Albuquerque at Jackson’s MMA and has won his first three fights in the UFC. His most recent victory came in November as he defeated Jorge Masvidal by unanimous decision.
Tickets for UFC Fight Night 42: Henderson vs. Khabilov will go on sale on April 18th and the UFC will be releasing more ticket information in the coming weeks.
