The UFC will be returning to Germany on May 31st for the first time since UFC 122 in 2010 as UFC Fight Night 41 comes from the O2 World Berlin and the fight card will be headlined by Mark Munoz meeting Gegard Mousasi in a middleweight bout.
UFC officials announced the fight booking on Thursday and tickets for the event will go on sale April 2nd to UFC Fight Club Members.
Munoz (13-4) has been in the UFC since 2009 and has eight wins in the organization. He has dropped two of his last three fights with the defeats coming against current middleweight champion Chris Weidman and Lyoto Machida. His last victory came during the summer last year when he defeated Tim Boetsch by unanimous decision at UFC 162.
“I’ve always wanted to go to Berlin,” said Munoz. “To be able to compete there is an added bonus. Berlin is a historic place and I’m looking forward to being part of MMA history and putting on a great show for the fans! Mousasi is a great opponent and competitor. I am looking forward to competing against him and getting one step closer to fighting for the title.”
Mousasi (34-4-2) is a former DREAM/Strikeforce champion and won his UFC debut last year when he defeated Ilir Latifi in a light heavyweight bout. After being out of action for ten months due to an injury, he returned at UFC Fight Night 36 last month as was defeated by Machida in the main event of the fight card.
UFC Fight Night 41: Munoz vs. Mousasi will be streamed on UFC Fight Pass on May 31st and the UFC will be announcing more fights for this card in the coming weeks.
