Rousimar Palhares vs. Jon Fitch set for World Series of Fighting 11 in July

Rousimar Palhares became the World Series of Fighting welterweight champion on Saturday night with a submission victory over Steve Carl and his first title defense will come in July against Jon Fitch at World Series of Fighting 11.  wsof-flat-color-outline

The fight booking was officially announced by World Series of Fighting officials on Saturday night and it will serve as the co-main event of the fight card.

The date and venue for the World Series of Fighting 11 has not been announced at this time, but the card will be headlined by Justin Gaethje defending the lightweight title against Nick Newell.

Palhares (16-6) has won his last two fights by heel hook submission in the first round and four of his last five wins have come by submission. His last two fights have lasted a combined 1:40 seconds and thirteen of his career wins have come by submission.

Fitch (26-6-1, 1NC) snapped a two fight losing streak in October when he defeated Marcelo Alfaya by split decision at World Series of Fighting 6. It was his first victory in just over a year as his previous victory came against Erick Silva in the UFC.
