UFC Fight Night 38 took place on Sunday night in Brazil and the event is now the third most watched UFC Fight Night card on Fox Sports 1.
According to Nielsen sources, the UFC Fight Night 38 preliminary overnight viewership number landed at 936,000 total viewers and the peak of the card came in the main event with 1.25 million.
The previous UFC Fight Night card to air on Fox Sports 1 took place last month and had 1.4 million viewers. Since the beginning of the year, there has been three Fight Night card on Fox Sports 1 and the average viewership has been over 988,ooo viewers.
When it came to the competition on Sunday night, the UFC fight card went up against several NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament games on TBS, TNT, and Tru TV. The three cable networks aired a combined 1o games and the average viewership was 2.4 million. Also, the UFC Fight Night 38 main card went up against Walking Dead on AMC, which won the night with 13.47 million viewers and a 6.7 rating in the Adult 18-49 year old demographic.
UFC Fight Night 38 was the first time that the UFC has held an event on a Sunday evening on Fox Sports 1 and their next Sunday card will be on July 6th for The Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale, which will be headlined by the trilogy bout between Frankie Edgar and B.J. Penn.
