World Series of Fighting 9 Medical Suspensions: Steve Carl facing a potential six month suspension

The medical suspensions for World Series of Fighting 9 have been released by the Nevada State Athletic Commission and eight fighters on the card received a suspension. WSOF 9 Poster

The commission released the medical suspensions on Monday and the suspensions were forwarded to TheMMAReport.com after they were requested.

World Series of Fighting 9 took place on Saturday night at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and was headlined by Rousimar Palhares submitting Steve Carl to win the welterweight title.

Carl is facing a suspension of six months unless he is cleared by an Orthopedic Doctor. The former welterweight champion will have to get his right foot and right ankle x-ray and also get an MRI done on his right knee. If he is not cleared by an Orthopedic Doctor, he will be suspended until the end of September.

  • Steve Carl: Must have right foot & right ankle x-ray & cleared by Orthopedic Doctor. Also needs MRI of right knee or clearance by Orthopedic Dr. or no contest until 09/26/14
  • Josh Rettinghouse: Suspended until 04/29/14 and no contact until 04/20/1
  • Tyler Stinson: Suspended until 05/14/14 and no contact until 04/29/14
  • Ozzy Dugulubgov: Must have a CT of brain and right orbital area if not done before 04/13/14, then must have a MRI of brain and have clearance on possible right orbital fracture; minimum suspension and no contest until 05/29/14, no contact until 05/14/14
  • John Gunderson: Suspended until 04/29/14 and no contact until 04/20/14
  • Sean Cantor: Suspended until 04/14/14 and no contact until 04/06/14
  • Phil Dace: Suspended until 04/14/14 and no contact until 04/06/14
  • Gil Guardado: Suspended until 04/13/14 and no contact until 04/09/14
