The main event of UFC on FOX 11 will be a heavyweight bout as Fabricio Werdum meets Travis Browne and the winner is targeted to face UFC champion Cain Velasquez in Mexico.
UFC President Dana White announced the plans during the UFC on FOX 11 Pre-Fight Press Conference on Thursday.
“As long as Cain’s recovery is on course, the fight will be in Mexico,” White said.
Werdum and Browne will both enter the cage on Saturday night on a three fight winning streak. While Werdum only competed once in 2013, Browne went 3-0 and scored first round knockout victories against Gabriel Gonzaga, Alistair Overeem, and Josh Barnett.
Velasquez has been recovering from shoulder surgery and there has been speculation that he is targeting a return in November. White said last night at his post fight scrum that they will begin filming an international edition of “The Ultimate Fighter” in Mexico this summer.
