Former UFC lightweight Melvin Guillard has a new place to call his fighting home as he has signed a multi-fight contract with the World Series of Fighting.
The news of the signing was first reported by Jeremy Botter of Bleacher Report and was later confirmed by World Series of Fighting President Ray Sefo.
Guillard (31-12-2, 2NC) was released from the UFC last month following his decision defeat to Michael Johnson at UFC Fight Night 38. UFC President Dana White was critical of Guillard’s performance and he went 2-5, 1NC in his last eight UFC fights.
He will add some much needed depth to the World Series of Fighting lightweight roster, which already features champion Justin Gaethje, Nick Newell, JZ Calvalcante, Tyson Griffin, and Jacob Volkmann.
Details on his contract were not released and a date of his first fight in the World Series of Fighting is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
