The second episode of The Ultimate Fighter 19 premiered last night on Fox Sports 1 and featured Cathal Pendred of Team Penn facing Hector Urbina of Team Edgar.
According to Nielsen sources, Wednesday night’s preliminary viewership landed at 320,000 total viewers, which is down 46 percent from last weeks debut episode and down 48 percent in the key demographics of Men 18-49 and Persons 18-49.
The Ultimate Fighter began airing on Fox Sports 1 last year during season 18 with Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate. The lowest rated episode during that season was episode nine, which had 452,000 total viewers in the preliminary ratings. The other season of the reality show to air on Fox Sports 1 came at the beginning of this year with an international season called “The Ultimate Fighter Nations,” and preliminary viewership for this version of the reality show ranged from 162,000 to 384,000 viewers on Fox Sports 1.
When it came to the competition, the night on cable was won by the NBA Playoffs on TNT. The playoff games were the top two television shows on cable with 4.068 million and 2.922 million viewers. Other top shows that went up against The Ultimate Fighter were The Big Bang Theory on TBS (2.812 million) and American Dad on Adult Swim (1.711 million).
