One of the leading stories following Bellator 120 was the scoring in the main event as Quinton “Rampage” Jackson won his third straight fight with a decision victory over Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal.
The fight was tied heading into the final round as Lawal took the first round and Rampage won the second.
TheMMAReport.com scored the third round for Lawal but the three judges scoring the fight for the Mississippi Athletic Commission gave the third round to Jackson.
Following the post fight press conference, Bellator MMA Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney was asked how he scored the fight which he stated that he had Jackson winning the fight.
“I need to watch the third, slow and analyze it like I always try to do,” Rebney said. “In my mind, they went into the third one-one, and then I watched the third and walked out of it thinking Rampage won the third. It was super close but I though Rampage just by his dominance from the standing position.”
After the decision was announced, Jackson stated that he would like to have a rematch against Lawal since he wanted to defeat Lawal by knockout. The victory for Jackson does secure him a title shot in the Bellator light heavyweight division but he has mentioned over the last week that he may not be on board with facing Emanuel Newton since they do train together at times.
