Jake Shields vs. Jon Fitch announced as co-main event of WSOF 11

The co-main event of World Series of Fighting 11 in July will be a welterweight bout between former UFC fighters as Jake Shields meets Jon Fitch. wsof-flat-color-outline

In addition to announcing the co-main event, World Series of Fighting officials announced that Melvin Guillard will make his debut in the promotion against JZ Cavalcante.

World Series of Fighting 11 will be headlined by Justin Gaethje making his first lightweight title defense against Nick Newell. A date and venue for the event has not been announced at this time, but TheMMAReport.com has heard this will be an east coast show on the afternoon of July 5th.

Shields (29-7-1, 1NC) was recently signed by the World Series of Fighting after he was released by the UFC. He is 3-3, 1NC in his last seven fights and is coming off a decision defeat to Hector Lombard at UFC 171. Fitch (25-6-1, 1NC) was scheduled to face welterweight champion Rousimar Palhares on this card, but Palhares had to pull out of the fight due to personal issues.
