TUF Brazil 3 Recap
Tonight’s episode was based around the heavyweight fight between Team Sonnen’s Marcos Rogerio and Team Silva’s Jollyson Francisco, which was the season’s last quarterfinal bout.

Nova Uniao founder Andre Pederneiras stopped by a Team Silva training session and provided some insight to Wanderlei’s fighters.

At the Sonnen training session, the team convinced Hortencia, the celebrity coach that was a Brazilian basketball star, to do a circuit and then jump in an ice bath for five minutes.

Back at the Team Silva training session, Jollyson Francisco crafted his game-plan for his fight with Rogerio. The plan was to implement his straight cross and then transition into a takedown.

The viewers learned a bit more about Marcos Rogerio. Rogerio talked about how he was lost in his teenage years, doing drugs and getting in the fights, until his father told him to find a direction in his life. That direction that Rogerio found was Mixed Martial Arts.

Both heavyweights successfully made the weight limit and had an intense a stare-down.
The fight took place next. Marcos Rogerio won a close first round that saw each trade positions within the clinch, and then Rogerio took full control of the fight in the second round, scoring with brutal leg kicks, scoring a pair of takedowns and landing with ground and pound. Rogerio was eventually awarded a unanimous decision after two frames.

There was one bit of controversy in the fight. During the fight round with Rogerio on top of Francisco, the fight was halted because Francisco had a bloody finger. Francisco claimed that Rogerio bit him, although the referee did not see it. Even though the fight should have been called there, the fight was restarted.

Rogerio’s was the fourth victory for Team Sonnen, evening up the race with Team Silva.

The show ended with the eight semifinalists being polled by Sonnen, Silva and Dana White about who they wanted to fight in the semis, and then the coaches announced the semifinals.

In the middleweight semifinals, Warlley Alves of Team Sonnen will take on Wagner Gomes of Team Silva, and Marcio Junior of Team Sonnen will take on Ricardo Abreu of Team Silva.

In the heavyweight semifinals, Marcos Rogerio of Team Sonnen will take on Antonio Carlos Jr. of Team Silva, and Vitor Miranda of Team Sonnen will take on Richardson Moreira of Team Silva.
