UFC 173 Bonuses: Along with winning the title, T.J. Dillashaw wins $100k in bonuses

UFC 173 took place on Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and the fight night bonuses went to T.J. Dillashaw, Renan Barao, and Mitch Clarke. UFC 173 Poster

The bonuses were announced by UFC President Dana White at the post fight press conference and each bonus is $50,000.

Dillashaw won the fight of the night bonus with Barao and one of the performance of the night bonuses for his dominating victory over Barao to win the UFC bantamweight title.

From the opening bell, Dillashaw was able to control the fight as he used excellent footwork and movement to give Barao problems. He dropped the now former champion in the first round and finished the fight with strikes in the final round.

This is the second time that Dillashaw has won a fight night bonus as his previous bonus win came last year at UFC Fight Night 29 against Raphael Assuncao. He won the fight of the night bonus in that fight, which he lost by split decision. It seems likely that his first title defense will come against Assuncao, who is currently on a six fight winning streak and is currently recovering from an injury.

The other performance of the night bonus went to Clarke, who submitted Al Iaquinta in the opening preliminary bout on the Fox Sports 1 portion of the preliminary card. Clarke was controlled in the opening round by Iaquinta, but pulled off a slick d’arce choke submission to score his second straight victory in the UFC. Along with this being his first submission win in the UFC, this is also his first fight night bonus win.
