The UFC announced yesterday that Johnny Case was out of his UFC Fight Night 44 bout against Joe Ellenberger and the UFC wasted no time in finding a new opponent for Ellenberger as he will now meet Bryan Barberena on the June 28th card.
The new fight was announced by UFC officials on Thursday.
UFC Fight Night 44 will come from the AT&T Center and will be headlined by Cub Swanson meeting Jeremy Stephens in a scheduled five round featherweight bout.
Barberena (9-2) is currently on a six fight winning streak and five of those wins have come by TKO/KO or submission. He trains out of the MMA Lab in Arizona and he is coming off a first round victory over Eric Moon at a King of the Cage event in February.
This is the fifth opponent schedule for Ellenberger (14-1) to make his UFC debut against as he had been previously scheduled to meet Yancy Medeiros, Vagner Rocha, Frank Trevino, and Case. Ellenberger is currently on a two fight winning streak and twelve of his victories have come by TKO/KO or submission.
