Brandon Thatch replaces an injured Thiago Alves, faces Jordan Mein at UFC Fight Night 49

Thiago Alves has pulled out of his UFC Fight Night 49 bout on August 23rd against Jordan Mein and replacing him in the bout will be Brandon Thatch.

The injury and new fight booking was announced by the UFC on Wednesday afternoon.

UFC Fight Night 49 will come from the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma on August 23rd and will be headlined by a lightweight bout as former champion Benson Henderson meets Rafael dos Anjos.

Thatch (11-1) is currently on a ten fight winning streak and all of his career victories have come in the first round. Both of his wins in the UFC have come by TKO and his most recent win came in November at UFC Fight Night 32 against Paulo Thiago.

Mein (28-9) has won two of his three fights in the UFC and his only lost in the promotion came against top title contender Matt Brown. His most recent appearance in the octagon came in April as he defeated Herman Perpetuo by split decision.
