Newly crowned World Series of Fighting middleweight champion David Branch has an opponent and date for his first title defense as he will be challenged by Yushin Okami at World Series of Fighting 15 on October 24.
The fight booking was announced by World Series of Fighting President Ray Sefo during a conference call on Tuesday. A location and venue for the event has not been announced and this is the same day as Bellator 130.
Branch (14-3) defeated Jesse Taylor last month to win the inaugural middleweight title as he scored his first submission vicory since 2010 when he defeated Derrick Mehmen at Bellator 15. The victory over Taylor was his fourth straight and he has won six of seven since being released from the UFC.
Okami (30-8) was signed by the World Series of Fighting late last year and defeated Svetlozar Savov by submission in his World Series of Fighting debut. He has won four of his last five and his submission win over Savov was his first win by submission since UFC 66 in 2006.
More details on this event is expected to be announced by World Series of Fighting officials in the coming weeks.
