Conor McGregor returned from injury on Saturday at UFC Fight Night 46 in Dublin, Ireland and he delivered on his promise as he defeated Diego Brandao in the first round.
McGregor would land a left hand that would drop Brandao with just over one minute left in the opening round and finished the fight with strikes on the ground.
Check out how members of the MMA media reacted to the victory on Twitter.
Conor comes out to a Sinead/Biggie remix. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a crowd like this. Incredible stuff. They are dancing in the stands.

Serious question. Is anyone at the O2 rooting for Brandao?

Before whatever is about to happen here happens, let’s give Brandao props for having the balls to step into this lion’s den.

Beer is flying everywhere.

Patient, violent, professional. McGregor boxes ’em on the feet and hammers ’em on the mat. Brandao is no different, brown bread late in R1.

Mcgregor wins via 1st round TKO. Pandemonium. Crazier than nog in brazil. Drinks flying. What a moment for him and these people.

There you have it. Still questions to be answered, but Conor McGregor carried a whole nation’s expectations today and came through.

Well, that was a successful night for @ufc in Ireland. @TheNotoriousMMA sends the home crowd to exits happy. Great fights #UFCDublin

Probably couldn’t script that any better if you’re the UFC. McGregor’s star grows even bigger. He’ll be a draw everywhere. Not just Ireland.

“What’s next for, I’m going to sit with Lorenzo Fertitta, drink some fat ass whiskey and talk about some stadiums next!”
