Rory MacDonald will headline his first UFC event as he will meet former Strikeforce champion Tarec Saffiedine in the main event of UFC Fight Night 54 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on October 4th. 
The fight booking was announced by the UFC today.
UFC Fight Night 54 will come from the Halifax Metro Centre in October 4th and the UFC will be announcing ticket information shortly.
MacDonald (17-2) has won back to back fights and eight of his ten fights in the UFC. His most recent win came in June as he defeated Tyron Woodley by decision. His last four wins have come by unanimous decision and his last stoppage victory came against Che Mills at UFC 145 in 2012.
Saffiedine (15-3) won his UFC debut at the beginning of the year as he won a decision against Hyun Gyu Lim in the main event of UFC Fight Night 34. It was his fifth straight victory and all of those wins have come by decision.
