World Series of Fighting 11 was initially targeted to take place on American military base

World Series of Fighting 11 took place this past Saturday at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach and it was the first time that the promotion was televised on network television as the card aired on NBC.wsof-flat-color-outline

The event was headlined by a lightweight title fight as Justin Gaethje made his title defense since winning the title as he defeated Nick Newell by stoppage in the second round.

The Ocean Center was announced as the venue for World Series of Fighting 11 less than a month before the fight card. As it turns out, the event was initially targeted to take place at an American military base and the promotion is still looking to hold an event on a military base.

“This actual show was meant to be on a military base,” World Series of Fighting President Ray Sefo told TheMMAReport.com. “Unfortunately due to a few things that did not work out, it got postponed. That is something that is in the works and we are talking about it. Myself, Shawn [Lampman], and Ali [Abdel-Aziz] will discuss it further and maybe somewhere down the line, we will do that.”

The World Series of Fighting has been giving away tickets to members of the military for their events and works with the Green Beret Foundation. In the past, the UFC has held events on military bases, with the most recent show coming last year as UFC Fight for the Troops 3 took place at Fort Campbell in Tennessee.
