An undisclosed injury has forced Abel Trujillo out of his UFC Fight Night 47 bout against Ross Pearson and taking Trujillo’s place in the bout will be former title challenger Gray Maynard.
The injury and new fight was announced by the UFC on Monday afternoon.
UFC Fight Night 47 will come from the Cross Insurance Center on August 16th and will be headlined by a light heavyweight bout as Ryan Bader meets Ovince St. Preux.
Maynard (11-3-1) was scheduled to face Fabricio Camoes on this fight card but with Maynard being moved up to face Pearson, Camoes will be moved to another fight card later this year. The former UFC lightweight title challenger will be looking to snap a two fight losing streak and he has gone 1-3-1 in his last five fights.
Pearson (15-7) is coming off a controversial defeat at UFC Fight Night 42 against Diego Sanchez that nearly everyone believe he won the fight. Following the fight, UFC President Dana White said that the organization would treat the fight as a victory for Pearson, including giving him his win bonus for the fight.
