The co-main event of UFC 178 is now set as Bobby Green has been moved up the card to face Donald Cerrone and Green’s original opponent for the event, Jorge Masvidal will now meet James Krause.
The new fight bookings were announced by the UFC on Thursday.
UFC 178 will come from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on September 27th and will be headlined by Demetrious Johnson defending the UFC flyweight title against Chris Cariaso.
Cerrone (24-6, 1NC) is currently on a four fight winning streak and he is coming off a win against Jim Miller at UFC Fight Night 45. During his winning streak, he has won a fight night bonus in each bout and all four wins have come by stoppage. Green (23-5) is currently on an eight fight winning streak and four of those wins have come in the UFC. He defeated Josh Thomson by split decision at UFC on FOX 12 and his last two wins have come by decision.
Krause (21-5) has won two of his three fights in the UFC and is coming off a win against Jamie Varner at UFC 173. Both of his wins in UFC have come by stoppage and he is 9-1 in his last ten. Masvidal (27-8) has won back to back fights by unanimous decision and has won five of his last six. At UFC on FOX 12, he defeated Daron Cruickshank on the preliminary card after being dropped by a punch in the first round.
