The fight booking was announced by UFC officials today in a press release.

UFC Fight Night 53 will come from the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden on October 4th and the event will air on Fight Pass.

Nelson (13-0-1) has been in the UFC since 2012 and has gone 4-0 in the promotion. His most recent win came in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 46 as he defeated Zak Cummings by submission in the second round.

“Rick Story has fought many of the best fighters,” Nelson said. “He beat the current champion in Johny Hendricks, he is very experienced and is a very good wrestler. He is a tough opponent and I am happy to be fighting him. Now I will head straight into training. I plan to go to Las Vegas to train with Conor McGregor and to help him prepare for his fight, and then I will most likely go to Sweden from there.”

Story (17-8) is coming off a submission win at UFC Fight Night 45 against Leonardo Mafra and he is 4-3 in his last seven fights. The win over Mafra was his first submission victory since 2009 when he defeated Brian Foster at UFC 103.

“Oh man this is a really exciting match up! Stylistically it’s going to be great because Gunnar is a grappler and an attacker, when it comes to fighting you can’t ask for more than someone who comes at you,” said Story. “As soon as I found out I started to watch his fights on UFC FIGHT PASS.”
