UFC Fight Night 49 took place on Saturday night at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was headlined by Rafael dos Anjos upsetting former UFC champion Benson Henderson with a knockout in the first round.
According to Nielson sources, the main card on Fox Sports 1 had 689,000 viewers in the preliminary ratings and this is down six percent from last weeks number of 735,000 for UFC Fight Night 47.
Saturday mark the second time in 2014 that Benson Henderson headline a Fight Night card on Fox Sports 1, with the previous time coming in June when he defeated Rustam Khabilov at UFC Fight Night 42. On that evening, which was also a Saturday night, the preliminary ratings was 1,217,000.
With the viewership from Saturday, the main card average for UFC Fight Night/TUF Finale main cards on Fox Sports 1 in 2014 is now 821,000 in the preliminary ratings and the average for a Saturday main card on the cable sports network is 767,000 viewers.
When it came to sports competition on Saturday night, the UFC broadcast went up against Nascar on ABC (5.44 million) and NFL preseason game on CBS (5,31 million). In addition to the NFL preseason game on CBS, there was multiple NFL games played on Saturday night that aired in the local markets of those teams, which obviously hurt the UFC in getting a bigger viewership number.
