Bellator 124 took place on Friday night at the Compuware Arena in Plymouth, Michigan and the main card on Spike TV was headlined by Emanuel Newton retaining the light heavyweight title with a third round knockout victory against Joey Beltran.
Also on the main card, Liam McGeary remained undefeated as he submitted Kelly Anundson in the first round to win the 2014 Summer Series Light Heavyweight Tournament and set up a title fight against Newton.

- Newton now has seven wins in Bellator light heavyweight competition and this is most in the promotions 205 pound division history.
- This is the second time that Newton has won a fight in Bellator by knockout and both have come via a spinning back fist.
- With the victory, Newton becomes the first unified Bellator light heavyweight champion to make a successful title defense.
- Beltran has now dropped two of his three fights since coming back to Bellator and both defeats have come by TKO/KO.
- McGeary improved to 6-0 in Bellator with the victory over Anundson and now has the second most wins in Bellator light heavyweight division history.
- All of McGeary’s wins in Bellator have come in the first round and this is his second submission victory in the Bellator cage, which is now tied with four other fighters for second most submissions in the promotions divisional history.
- Anundson now has three defeats in his career and all three have come by submission.
- LC Davis has won six of his last seven and he is now 2-0 in Bellator.
- Ryan Couture won his third straight fight and all three of those wins have come by rear-naked choke submission.
