A featherweight bout has been added to UFC 179 as Brazilian Felipe Arantes will meet Andre Fili in a bout expected to take place on the preliminary card.
UFC officials announced the fight booking on Wednesday.
UFC 179 will come from the Maracanazinho Gymnasium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and will be headlined by Jose Aldo defending the UFC featherweight title against Chad Mendes.
Arantes (16-6-1, 2NC) has gone 3-2-1 in his six fights in the UFC and all of his previous fights in the promotion have come in Brazil. He is coming off a decision win at UFC Fight Night 36 against Maximo Blanco and he has won two of his last three fights.
Fili (13-2) won his UFC debut last year against Jeremy Larsen at UFC 166 and he will enter this fight following a submission defeat to Max Holloway at UFC 172. He was initially scheduled to meet Sean Soriano on Friday at UFC Fight Night 50, but he pulled out of the fight with an injury.
