An undisclosed injury has forced Aljamain Sterling to pull out of his UFC Fight Night 54 bout on October 4th against Mitch Gagnon and taking his place in the bout will be Rob Font.
UFC officials announced the fight change on Monday evening.
UFC Fight Night 54 will come from the Halifax Metro Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and will be headlined by a welterweight bout as Rory MacDonald meets Tarec Saffiedine.
Font (11-1) made his UFC debut earlier this year and won a performance of the night bonus in his knockout victory against George Roop at UFC 175. He was booked to return at last week’s UFC Fight Night 50, but an injury forced him to pull out of that fight.
Gagnon (11-2) has won three in a row after losing his UFC debut to Bryan Caraway in 2012 at UFC 149. During his winning streak, two of the wins have come by submission in the first round and his most recent victory came in April as he defeated Tim Gordon at The Ultimate Fighter Nations Finale.
