The World Series of Fighting returns on Saturday night as the promotion will be holding a fight card at the Sands Event Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and the main card will air live on NBCSN.
The event will kick off with the online preliminary card on NBCSports.com at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT with seven fights and the main card on NBCSN will begin at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
The main card will be headlined by bantamweight champion Marlon Moraes looking for his sixth win in the promotion as he meets Cody Bollinger in a 140 pound, five round non-title fight.
Also on the main card, Keon Caldwell will look for his first win in the promotion as he meets Ozzy Dugulubgov in the co-main event of the fight card.
Below is a pre-fight statistical breakdown of the four fights that will take place on the main card.
Marlon Moraes (13-4-1) vs. Cody Bollinger (16-2, 1NC)
Moraes has been in the World Series of Fighting since the inaugural show and holds several records inside the promotion. He became the inaugural bantamweight champion in March with a dominating decision victory over Josh Rettinghouse. He was initially scheduled to defend the bantamweight title against Josh Hill, but an injury forced Hill out and Bollinger stepped up on short notice.
– Moraes is currently tied with Justin Gaethje for the most wins in World Series of Fighting history.
– Has the most TKO/KO wins in World Series of Fighting bantamweight competition.
– Tied with Anthony Johnson and Josh Burkman for second most TKO/KO wins in promotional history.
– His 32-second win over Carson Beebe us the fastest victory in World Series of Fighting history.
Following his exit from The Ultimate Fighter, Bollinger signed with the World Series of Fighting and has won both of his fights with the promotion. He is coming off a submission victory in July against Pablo Alfonso and he made it known after the fight that he was done at bantamweight and was moving up to the featherweight division.
– Currently on a three fight winning streak and is 8-1, 1NC in his last ten fights.
– Six career victories by submission and four by TKO/KO and nine of those wins came in the first round.
– Defeated Tyson Nam in his World Series of Fighting debut in January.
Ozzy Dugulubgov (5-2) vs. Keon Caldwell (9-2)
Dugulubgov is out of Renzo Gracie’s gym and opened his run with the World Series of Fighting with back to back victories. His winning streak would be snapped back in Match as he lost a split decision to Jonathan Nunez at World Series of Fighting 9.
– Holds a decision victory over current UFC fighter Chris Wade.
– Four victories by stoppage, including a second round achilles lock submission at World – Series of Fighting 5 against Andrew Osborne.
– Five of his seven fights have ended either in the first or second round.
Caldwell returns to the promotion for the first time in over a year as he is coming off a submission defeat to Nick Newell in August of last year. The defeat snapped a two fight losing streak and both of his career defeats have come by submission.
– Saturday night will mark 399 days since losing to Newell and this is the second longest layoff of his career.
– Opened his career with seven straight victories and is 2-2 since then.
– Never gone the distance in his career and seven of his wins have come in the first round.
Timur Valiev (7-1) vs. Isaiah Chapman (6-1)
After losing his professional debut, Valiev has won seven straight fights, including a flying knee TKO win against Adam Acquaviva in his World Series of Fighting debut in June. It was his third career victory by TKO and two of those wins have come in the first round.
– His victory over Acquaviva was his first fight to take place in the United States and was his first fight in just over one year.
– Has gone to the third round in his last three fights after not making it to the third in his previous five professional bouts.
– Holds one win by submission, which was his first professional win in 2011.
Chapman is out of Ohio and this will be his first professional fight to take place outside of the Ohio promotion, NAAFS. He has won back to back fights by decision and his most recent win came in June as he defeated Andrew Whitney.
– Started 4-0 and three of those wins came by TKO/KO or submission.
– This will be his third fight in 2014
– Only submission win came in 2012 as he used a guillotine choke to defeat Dustin Kempf.
Frankie Perez (8-1) vs. Tom Marcellino (7-2)
Perez trains out of Ricardo Almeida’s guy and this is his promotional debut. He enters this fight following a defeat to current UFC fighter Chris Wade in the regional promotion, Ring of Combat. All of his previous fights have taken place n that promotion and he has gone to the decision three times.
– Five wins by submission and three of them have come by rear-naked choke in the first round.
– Four victories have come in the first round and all under four minutes.
– His only TKO win came in 2012 as he stopped Ben Syers in the second round.
Marcellino is also out of the northeast and he trains out of Renzo Gracie’s gym. He is returning to the World Series of Fighting for the first time since early 2013 when he lost to Brenson Hansen by knockout.
– After losing back to back fights, he has won three in a row.
– All of his stoppage victories have come by submission and two of his last three wins have come by submission.
– Defeated Jeremy Ross in his last fight to win the Reality Fighting lightweight title.
