Ultimate Fighter alum Nam Phan has signed with Bellator and he will make his promotional debut against Mike Richman at Bellator 131 in San Diego on November 15th.
The fight booking was announced during the Bellator 129 main card broadcast on Spike TV on Friday night.
Bellator 131 will come from the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California and will be headlined by Tito Ortiz meeting Stephan Bonnar in a light heavyweight bout.
Phan (20-13) has won back to back fights since exiting the UFC earlier this year and both of those wins have come in Japan. His most recent win came two weeks ago as he defeated Yuki Baba by submission in the first round at Pancrase 261.
“I’m very excited to be part of the new Bellator with Scott Coker and the rest of the team,” Phan said. “This is an opportunity to fight on a huge stage once again and I’m so happy to be able to fight in front of all my friends, family and supporters in California.”
Richman (17-5) dropped down to the bantamweight division last month after having nine fights in the Bellator featherweight division. In his 135 pound debut, he defeated Ed West by knockout in the first round at Bellator 126 and five of his six wins in Bellator have come by TKO/KO.
“This is a fight that is going to kick off this stacked show with a bang,” Richman said. “Fans can expect two talented punchers staying in the pocket looking for the finish. I plan on seeing a bunch of Marines in attendance cheering loud, and just like we do in the Marine Corps, I’m going to locate, close width, and destroy the enemy by fire and maneuver.”
