A welterweight bout that was targeted to take place earlier this year has been scheduled once again as Thiago Alves is slated to meet Jordan Mein at UFC 183.
The fight booking was announced by the UFC on Thursday afternoon.
UFC 183 will come from Las Vegas on January 31st and will be headlined by former middleweight champion Anderson Silva facing former Strikeforce champion Nick Diaz.
Alves (20-9) was scheduled to face Mein at UFC Fight Night 49, but he had to pull out of the fight with an injury. Alves returned to the UFC earlier this year after being out for two years and defeated Seth Baczynski in the fight of the night at UFC on FOX 11.
Mein (29-9) has won back to back fights and three of his four fights in the UFC. At UFC Fight Night 49, he ended up facing Mike Pyle and won a performance of the night bonus for his first round TKO victory.
