The UFC 179 Preliminary Card on Fox Sports 1 took place this past Saturday and featured Neil Magny winning his fifth fight in 2014 as he stopped William Macario in the third round.
According to Nielsen sources, the UFC 179 preliminary overnight viewership number for the prelims landed at 536,000 viewers and this is the down 23 percent from the UFC 178 number of 698,000 for the prelims.
With the viewership from Saturday night, the average viewership for a UFC PPV preliminary card on Fox Sports 1 in 2014 is now just over 748,000 viewers.
When it came to the competition on cable, the UFC went up against various college football games and the Mississippi vs. LSU game won the night with 4.952 million viewers. Other top programs that the UFC went up against were Alabama vs. Tennessee (2.589 million) and multiple episodes of The Big Bang Theory on TBS.
