James Wilson tested positive for a banned substance following his defeat to Dan Charles at the Bellator event on October 18th in Las Vegas and he received a temporary suspension from the Nevada Athletic Commission on Monday.
The temporary suspension was handed down during the commission’s monthly meeting and Wilson will have a full hearing at a later date.
According to Nevada Attorney General Chris Eckels, Wilson submitted a test via urine and the test came back positive for Nandrolone metabolites.
Nandrolone is an anabolic steroid and there have been several athletes to test positive for this in the past including Sean Sherk.
Wilson does not plan to hire a lawyer to handle this situation and stated during his brief appearance that everything he takes is over the counter. He will now coordinate with Eckels for a date for his full hearing on this positive drug test, and that hearing will likely take place next month.
