Desmond Green made his Titan FC debut on Friday night at the USF Sun Dome in Tampa, Florida and made a statement as he stopped former WEC champion Miguel Torres by knockout in 46-seconds.
Following his victory, it was announced that the promotion is targeting to have Green face recently signed Steven Siler for the promotions featherweight title.
During a post fight scrum with the media, The MMA Report asked Titan FC CEO Jeff Aronson on the timetable of a title fight between Green and Siler.
“It’s really a question of how quick Dez can rebound of this fight and when he will be ready,” Aronson said. “From what I saw tonight, Kurt Holobaugh is on the shelf, Toninho Furia is on the shelf. Both of them sustained injuries. We have other 45’ers, top level 45’ers on the shelf like Dez’s training parter [Shahbulat] Shamhalaev, top notch level guys.”
Aronson would go on to state how impressed he was with the performance of Green and how he did not see that fight going the way it did.
“Dez just did tonight what I don’t think anyone in the world expected Desmond Green to do,” he said. “He put a beating on Miguel Torres in a fashion that was so devastating that if you would have asked me before tonight and he all have had this conversation numerous times. I told you I was expecting a three round war, fight of the night. He came out and they talk about make you remember them, what he did tonight, there is no one on Twitter. I was reading on MMA Underground, Sherdog, and all of the forums that is not calling for Dez Green to be a top ten featherweight right now.”
After the media scrum was completed, Aronson sent a tweet stating that the winner of Green-Siler will defend the title against either Holobaugh or Furia.
