UFC 181 took place on Saturday at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and the event was headlined by Robbie Lawler winning the UFC welterweight title with a split decision victory over Johny Hendricks.
The two welterweights would go at it for 25 minutes and many members of the MMA media felt Hendricks did enough to win a close decision, but two of the three judges scoring the fight for the Nevada Athletic Commission had it for Lawler.
Check out how members of the MMA media reacted to Lawler winning the UFC welterweight title.
Sam and Dave?! Shut it down. Robbie Lawler wins the walkout battle.

I guess they couldn’t find the three blind mice so they got D’Amato, Rosales and Trowbridge. SMH

Hot damn. Robbie Lawler coming out on fire. No glove touch and already tagging Hendricks.

Wondering who lit the fuse that shot Lawler out of the canon? HOLY F*CK

Big knees from Lawler to start. Robbie chants from the crowd. Hendricks looking for the takedown, can’t lock it in. Another knee from Lawler

Hendricks looks much slower this time around. Can never count him out because of his huge heart.

You can hear Laimon say “he’s coasting this round, Johny!” Kind of correct.

I’d watch these guys fight every three months. I don’t care.
— Marc Raimondi (@marc_raimondi) December 7, 2014
We said this last time… but man, the chins on these two are absolutely ridiculous.
— Shaheen Al-Shatti (@shaunalshatti) December 7, 2014
Hendricks seems to be turning the fire up a bit. Kid has a huge heart and stones to match. Lawler needs to turns things around or else.

Lawler suddenly looks tired in round three. Hendricks it easily. 29-28 Hendricks.
— Dave Doyle (@davedoylemma) December 7, 2014
Pat Miletich walks over to the corner and implores, “Robbie, force him to fight.”
— John Morgan (@MMAjunkieJohn) December 7, 2014
Hendricks isn’t winning any fans in here right now but he is winning the fight.
— Greg Savage (@TheSavageTruth) December 7, 2014
Yeesh. This crowd does not like Johny Hendricks’ strategy. #UFC181
