The Nevada Athletic Commission handed down the temporary suspension during Monday’s meeting in Las Vegas.

According to Drugs.com, “Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic (water pill) that helps prevent your body from absorbing too much salt, which can cause fluid retention. Hydrochlorothiazide treats fluid retention (edema) in people with congestive heartfailure, cirrhosis of the liver, or kidney disorders, or edema caused by taking steroids or estrogen. This medication is also used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).”

Evans-Smith was submitted by Raquel Pennington at UFC 181 and she will have her disciplinary hearing on a future commission meeting, which will likely take place in February.
