The main event of UFC Fight Night 63 was announced on Sunday evening as Chad Mendes will meet Ricardo Lamas in a scheduled five round featherweight bout.
The fight booking was announced during the main card broadcast of UFC Fight Night 59 and the fight card will air in the afternoon on Fox Sports 1.
In addition to the main event being announced, it was also announced that the co-main event will be a lightweight bout as Bobby Green meets Jorge Masvidal and another fight on the card will be Michael Chiesa vs. Mitch Clarke.
Mendes (16-2) is coming off a decision defeat to current UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo and both of his career defeats have come by decision. The recent defeat snapped a five fight winning streak and four of those wins came by TKO/KO. Lamas (15-3) has won back to back fights and six of his last seven. Just like Mendes, his last defeat came to Aldo as he lost a decision at UFC 169 last year.
UFC Fight Night 63 will come from the Patriot Center and ticket information is expected to be announced shortly by the UFC.
