Urijah Faber vs. Raphael Assuncao official as main event of UFC Fight Night 62 in Brazil

The main event for UFC Fight Night 62 on March 21 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is now official as former WEC champion Urijah Faber will meet Raphael Assuncao in a battle of top UFC bantamweights.

UFC officials announced the fight booking on Thursday and also announced six other fights with the bouts being Demian Maia vs. Ryan LaFlare, Josh Thomson vs. Gilbert Burns, Ben Saunders vs. Erick Silva, Matt Wiman vs. Leonardo Santos, Cain Carrizosa vs. Leonardo Mafra, and Drew Dober vs. Leandro Silva.

UFC Fight Night 62: Faber vs. Assunacao will come from the Ginasio do Maracanazinho and tickets for the event will go on sale on Wednesday, February 4 at www.livepass.com.br.

Faber (32-7) has won back to back fights and six of his last seven. All three of his defeats in the UFC have come in title fights and two of those defeats came against former champion Renan Barao. Assuncao (23-4) lost his UFC debut in 2011 and since that defeat, he has won seven in a row including a win over current champion T.J. Dillashaw. His most recent win came in October as he defeated Bryan Caraway by unanimous decision.
