The middleweight title bout between champion Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort has a new date as they will meet at UFC 187 on May 23rd in Las Vegas.
The fight booking was made official by the UFC on Wednesday evening.
UFC 187 is expected to come from the MGM Grand Garden Arena and this title fight is expected to be the co-main event of the fight card.
Weidman (12-0) was scheduled to meet Belfort at next week’s UFC 184, but an injury forced him out of the event. This will be his third title defense and all of his title defenses have come against Brazilians. Belfort (24-10) has won three fight in a row since losing to light heavyweight champion Jon Jones in 2012. His last win came in November of 2013 as he defeated Dan Henderson by knockout.
